Salary: £35,000 - 55,000 per year Requirements: C++ strength appropriate to your experience level A degree in software, computer systems, maths, physics or a similar subject An analytical, problem-solving mindset Ability to explain technical work to people at all levels Curiosity and willingness to learn new technologies and methods Willingness to travel occasionally in the UK and abroad Nice to have: Qt, Python or Bash scripting, OpenCV, CUDA, or experience with real-time or mission-critical software Responsibilities: Design and develop new C++ software to MISRA standards Build graphical user interfaces, currently using Qt, with plans to adopt other technologies Deploy software on Linux, including Red Hat and Ubuntu, and maintain the systems it runs on Write interface software for external hardware and third-party software Analyse trials data and write up findings for technical and non-technical audiences Integrate software with prototype equipment Manage code using Git Technologies: Bash CUDA Git Hardware Linux Python Qt Ubuntu opencv C++ More: We design and build complex defence systems. Our R&D team works three to five years ahead of live programmes, anticipating future customer requirements, and brings together software, controls, electronics and physics expertise. We are investing in more modular code, cleaner Git workflows and robust testing. This Norfolk-based, on-site role is open to people at different career stages; defence experience is not required. The work offers variety across software, maths, hardware and trials, with opportunities to contribute ideas as we modernise our software development. We offer a four-and-a-half-day working week and training to help fill skills gaps. The salary is £35,000–£55,000.
