Salary: £70,000 - 90,000 per year Requirements: Significant experience designing and delivering enterprise applications Strong hands-on expertise in Java and Spring Boot development Proven experience designing microservices-based architectures Experience creating component-level designs, Low-Level Designs (LLDs), and Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) Strong understanding of cloud-native development principles and containerisation Experience building solutions within Microsoft Azure environments Knowledge of RESTful API design, OAuth2, and OpenID Connect Experience with CI/CD practices and modern development pipelines Commitment to automated testing and software quality Hands-on experience using AI-powered development tools and coding assistants Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including the ability to explain technical decisions to technical and non-technical audiences Desirable: Node.js development experience Desirable: Identity and access management solutions experience Desirable: Email delivery and messaging platforms experience Desirable: Azure certifications Desirable: Experience mentoring or leading development teams Desirable: A track record of modernising and transforming legacy application estates Responsibilities: Produce component-level and code-level designs and detailed Low-Level Design (LLD) documentation Translate high-level architectural designs into clear implementation plans for development teams Create and maintain Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) and facilitate design reviews Define and embed engineering standards, coding principles, and security best practices Drive the adoption of AI-assisted development tools across the software development lifecycle Establish governance processes to ensure architectural consistency and quality Support the migration and modernisation of legacy applications into cloud-native environments Develop reusable reference architectures and engineering patterns Mentor developers and foster a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement Work closely with QA teams to embed automated testing standards into delivery pipelines Take ownership of application-level architecture and low-level design Technologies: AI API Architect Azure CI/CD Cloud Support Java OpenID Security Spring Spring Boot microservices NodeJS More: We are recruiting a hands-on Lead Application Architect for a large-scale application modernisation programme.
