Salary: £36,000 - 60,000 per year Requirements: Strong hands-on experience with Java 8, Spring, and Spring Boot Experience with REST API design and microservices architecture Knowledge of Kafka and event-driven integration patterns Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and cloud-based deployment Knowledge of Docker, Helm, and Kubernetes Experience with BDD/TDD, JUnit, and automated unit testing Experience with CI/CD tools and practices, including Jenkins, Git, and SonarQube Knowledge of API gateways, API security, and service integration Experience with Agile delivery using Scrum, Jira, and Confluence Experience leading engineering delivery across banking or financial services teams is beneficial, particularly in distributed systems and production environments Responsibilities: Lead Java backend delivery on a major UK banking programme Take technical ownership and shape engineering solutions Lead the delivery lifecycle from technical design and implementation through testing, integration, and release Ensure applications meet agreed quality, security, performance, and reliability standards Collaborate with architecture, product, DevOps, and offshore engineering teams to resolve technical challenges and keep delivery on track Technologies: API Backend CI/CD Cloud Confluence DevOps Docker GCP Git Helm JIRA JUnit Java Jenkins Kafka Kubernetes REST Security Spring Spring Boot TDD microservices More: We are recruiting a Lead Engineer for a 12-month contract, preferably based in Edinburgh, with London also considered.
