What Your Job Will Be Like: We are seeking a Summer High School Intern with interest in pursuing a career as a Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) Technologist to join our team! On any given day, you may be called on to: Learn or increase understanding of model and drawing creation using CAD software (Creo, SolidWorks) Create and modify mechanical models & drawings using CAD software, while incorporating GD&T-based tolerancing schemes to describe the engineering intent of the parts/assemblies. Learn appropriate part-defining definition methods. Develop understanding of product definition requirements. Update models and drawings per engineering change orders. Other projects as assigned by a staff mentor Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite. Salary Range: At Sandia, we value the important work done by our interns and its contribution to National Security. Because of this, our interns earn competitive pay rates. Our pay structure is based on earned credit hours, classification, and degree level. Your pay rate will be determined during the hire process and included in your offer package. Qualifications We Require: You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements: Attending a local high school or living with a parent or legal guardian near the work site if under 18 years of age Enrolled full time in the spring immediately preceding the internship, as defined by the school Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 Ability to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer Minimum 16 years of age U.S. citizens, legal permanent residents, asylees or refugees in the U.S. Qualifications We Desire: Classroom experience using a CAD software package (Creo, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, ...etc.) Interest in pursuing a career in Mechanical Design Excellent organizational skills Excellent interpersonal skills Proven record of demonstrating initiative Strong oral and written communication skills Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products Posting Duration: This posting will be open for application submissions for a minimum of three (3) calendar days, including the 'posting date'.
