Salary: £85,000 - 85,000 per year Requirements: A track record of directly managing development or engineering teams as an Engineering Manager, Development Manager, Technical Delivery Manager, or in a similar role Proven impact on team throughput, quality, and defect rates, supported by metrics Strong grounding in the SDLC, development standards, code review, and QA practices Experience coaching and developing junior or graduate engineers into productive team members A technical background that enables you to lead engineers, even if you no longer code day to day Experience scaling a team and its processes as it grows Experience leading teams delivering enterprise SaaS platforms is desirable Experience running a graduate academy, development centre, or nearshore/offshore delivery centre is desirable Familiarity with engineering metrics frameworks such as DORA or flow metrics is desirable Familiarity with Agile delivery and tools such as Jira and Confluence is desirable A consultancy or professional services background is desirable Responsibilities: Own developer throughput and flow by removing blockers and building a predictable delivery cadence Drive engineering quality and reduce defects across the teams work Define and embed development standards and the SDLC, from ticket to production Establish strong peer review and QA practices Introduce engineering metrics and use them to lead continuous improvement Coach and develop junior engineers through hands-on guidance, feedback, and clear career paths Scale the team and its ways of working as new graduate cohorts join Lead two Project Managers, keeping project delivery and engineering delivery aligned Technologies: Confluence Flow JIRA More: We are supporting a fast-growing technology consultancy that delivers enterprise SaaS platforms for large organisations, implementing, configuring, and extending leading IT service management and AIOps products. The business is investing in its engineering capability through an in-house engineering delivery centre in Glasgow and successive graduate cohorts. This permanent Engineering Manager role is based in our clients Glasgow office five days a week, alongside the engineers you will lead. You will take ownership of the engineering delivery centre and build a high-performing, measurable team over the next 6 to 12 months, with scope to scale it as the business grows.
